LEE LARSON
The original seed money of $100,000 was the result of a generous donation by Lee Larson of School Bus Services, Inc.
ALICE BARNEKO KLOHE
Alice Klohe’s estate donated $130,494.32 to the foundation. Alice passed away in 2008. She was born in 1914 and moved to the Canby area in 1922. She briefly lived in Salem where she married Ernest Klohe in 1930. They lived a short time in Oregon City and returned to Canby in 1935. She worked for Cutsforth’s Thriftway for 26 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of Canby civic organizations. Alice had a love for travel and visited over 40 countries during her life.
VIRGINIA RESCH
Virginia Resch left the foundation $476,024.23. She attended one-room country schools in Kansas. After graduating from high school in 1930 she attended junior college in Kansas and ultimately graduated from Albany College in Albany, Oregon in 1935. Virginia was a teacher and during World War II joined the Womens Aviation Army Corps. Her military job was to teach French and Spanish to officers and the enlisted men and women. After her military discharge, she was employed by the Veteran’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon for over 30 years. She moved to Canby in 1979 and passed away in June 2007. During her lifetime she enjoyed traveling, languages and the arts.
